Written and composed by Mayo composer Kathy Fahey, with choreography and lead dance performance by internationally renowned Ciara Sexton (previously lead dancer with Riverdance, Lord of the Dance and Heartbeat of Home), Fáinne Óir tells the story of a Mayo family during the famine years of 1845 – 1848. It is a story of emigration, sorrow, and heartbreak, but also a story of young love and hope. Set in Mayo and New York, the story is told through music and dance, with narration by actress Sarah Laverty and music performed by the Mayo Concert Orchestra along with choral group Vox Fusion and traditional musicians David Doocey, Diarmaid Moynihan and Stephen Doherty.

I am honoured to have been invited by Kathy to create a series of original paintings for the show and to become member of the production team. I am currently working on 20 paintings that will be used in the stage design of the show and will help to tell story of Fáinne Óir as well as providing the backdrop to the dancers on stage.

I am currently working on plans to host an exhibition of the paintings in September and will be keeping you posted on the details once they are confirmed.

With so many of my collectors and art friends based in the US I can't tell you how excited I am to have the opportunity to show my work in New York – on the broadway stage no less! This promises to be a spetacular, unique event. I hope some of you will be able to make the show in September and get a chance to say hello.
