Who are they for? My workshops are aimed at painting enthusiasts who would like to explore some new ways of approaching their painting. Beginners are also welcome and can find great encouragement and help from fellow participants. If you have any queries please call Padraig at 086 8801733 or email info@padraigmccaul.com

GENERAL INFORMATION

Where are they held? The workshops are based in the old Dugort national school, now used as the Achill Scout Den. It is situated on the main Dugort road, about 200 metres up from St.Thomas's Church | (Eircode number F28 AK57)

What to expect: For the Achill worskshops we will use the landscape and coast of Achill as our inspiration, so rain wear and sun cream are essential! The workshops will involve a mix of daily talks and demonstrations by Padraig , painting and sketching on location at some of Achill's most beautiful spots (weather permitting) and indoor studio based work to develop and finish paintings. Over the course of the workshops we will look at elements such as composition and perspective, colour and movement, and how they contribute to successful landscape and coastal paintings.

Each day starts at 11.00am and finishes at 5.00pm with a break of an hour for lunch, which we have in one of the local restaurants. Lunch is not included in the price.

What to bring:  Participants are advised to bring their own materials and easel. However materials (easels, canvas, paints) can all be provided if requested in advance. The only additional charge is for canvases. I work in oils but participants are welcome to use acrylics if they wish.

Cost:   The cost for the 2 day workshop is €195, and €295 for the 3 day workshop. This includes the cost of tuition only.

Payment: To book a place on one of my workshops you have the option to pay online now (deposit or full payment) or if you do not wish to pay online you can secure a place by sending a deposit of €50 or full payment to: Padraig McCaul, Dugort, Achill, Co.Mayo. News from the Studio

I am absolutely thrilled to let you know about the world premiere of a new music and contemporary dance production, Fáinne Óir, which takes place on September 20th in the Theatre Royal, Castlebar before moving to New York for a performance in the Symphony Space Theatre, Broadway, on September 26th.
I am very excited to have been asked to create a set of new original paintings to be used as the backdrops for a new Irish contemporary music and dance production, Fáinne Óir.
A MAYO artist who is just back from a sell-out exhibition in Australia will be showing his vivid portraits of the Achill landscape at Ireland’s premier art fair Art Source, in the RDS from November 10 to 12. http://www.con-telegraph.ie/news/roundup/articles/2017/11/01/4147921-mayo-artist-in-the-national-spotlight-after-australian-success/
I held my first exhibition in Australia in July this year at the Kidogo Arthouse, Fremantle. It was a great success and turned out to be a complete sell out.
I recently exhibited at the Affordable Art Fair in London with the Doorway Gallery. It's always an exciting fair to be at and this was, I think, my sixth time at the fair. Here's a link to a great review of the show from William McKenzie.
Padraig McCaul paintings to feature in new national Eircode marketing campaign
Summer 2016 is going to be very busy, with paintings workshops, exhibitions and a major national marketing campaign to look forward to.
This is an interview I gave to the Galway Advertiser in the run up to my exhibition at the Townhall Theatre in Galway in March this year.
